Get ready to hit the waves this spring with the latest trend of scuba and beach inspired attire! Miuccia Prada slipped some retro-palm tree prints into her Spring/Summer 2010 collection alongside more structured pieces. She describes the line going from “business to beach, which is a representation of how life is today: high and low.”
Jack and Lazaro, the design duo of Proenza Schouler, plunged into the water with tie-died racer backs, dresses that look as if shiny and lustrous seaweed were growing off of them and heels with neon accents. Thakoon Panichgul was also inspired by the ocean, saying that the “surf’s energy and speed have a very visual impact.” This can be seen in his S/S 2010 line where the models donned dresses and leggings that almost looked like wet suits and swirly prints than gave a nod to spiral waves. You can bring this look to dry land by pairing a vibrant or patterned piece with more basic article of clothing like a pair of jeans or a simple neutral colored t-shirt.
