This Spring 2011, fashion week brought an “anything goes” attitude to the runways of Paris, and for designer Christophe Decarnin everything went. With tattered tights, destroyed tees, ultra-short shorts, ankle jeans, and bedazzled blazers, this Americana inspired collection definitely turned heads. The distressed pieces compliment the sequin-encrusted blazers and give the collection a unique blend of rebellion and party glamour.
He also incorporated a red, white, and blue theme throughout the collection with some oh-so-stylish (not to mention patriotic) stars and stripes tanks. The pieces in this collection are must-haves for any young fashionista. I mean, who doesn’t love a great pair of destroyed daisy dukes, or a studded motorcycle jacket? And those metallic red leather pants? I think yes.
So for all those who can’t afford an outfit from a designer collection, (which let’s face it, is most of us) DIY your very own Balmain-inspired look. Rip some holes in your fishnets, grab some of your favorite jean shorts, spray paint an American flag on an old white tank, grab combat boots and a leather jacket and you’re ready to go. Balmain definitely created an awe-inspiring collection and pushed the boundaries from your typical floral print spring lines, so remember to take risks this season, because anything and everything goes.
